The PEDS (Pediatric Education for Diabetes in Schools) Program originated from a need to provide schools with information on reasonable accommodations for appropriate management of students with diabetes at schools. This information was compiled and entitled Recommendations for Diabetes Care in the Schools and Diabetes Basics.

If you are taking this curriculum for CE credit, you must first register, then move through the screens in chronological order using the Quiz feature to test yourself after each three chapters prior to the final CE test. You must answer the Quiz questions to move forward to the next section.

Continuing Education Credit
The participant can utilize this information for personal application or use the information to educate others. Certified Diabetic Educators and school nurses can obtain continuing education credits by completing this educational module and testing and the conclusion of the program. This online training course is approved for Continuing Education credits through The National Association of School Nurses (NASN).

Recommendations for Diabetes Care in Schools
The Recommendations program will assist school personnel, including administrators, school nurses, teachers and other school staff, parents, students and healthcare providers in knowing what contributions they need to make to provide appropriate diabetes care at school while achieving an optimal education.

Introduction to Diabetes Basics
The purpose of Diabetes Basics is to provide schools with updated information regarding diabetes. With ever-changing technology, new research and development and increasing numbers of children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, a need was identified for general information about diabetes, and how it is managed. School nurses, teachers, physicians, school administrators, students and parents can use the information contained in this section to familiarize themselves with basic care for the child with diabetes.
