The Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes Research and Education (PADRE)
Foundation is an organization established to provide educational
programs as well as clinical and scientific research of juvenile
diabetes. The education programs provide care and support for toddlers,
children 5 to 12 years old and teenagers with Type 1 Insulin-Dependent
Diabetes and Type 2 diabetics, along with support groups for family
members of children with diabetes. The PADRE Foundation is the only
program in Orange County, California providing educational support
programs for families of diabetic children with the support of psychologists,
social workers, dietitians, and diabetes nurse specialists. PADRE
has also initiated a statewide training program, Pediatric Education
for Diabetics in Schools (P.E.D.S.). The PADRE Foundation is an
independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, housed at Children's Hospital of
Orange County (CHOC). The PADRE Foundation's programs are open to
all diabetic children and their families, regardless of their medical
provider or where they are located. PADRE's mission is to serve
all of the diabetic children in and around Orange County and surrounding
